One of the most popular types of business in the Philippines is a water refilling station. I’ve talked to several people and a handful of them want this kind of business.
Indeed, the water refilling business is among the top ventures Pinoys choose today. And if you’re among those who’s been planning to put one also, then below are the basic steps you can follow.
Water Refilling Business Step-by-Step
If you’re going to ask some water refilling station owners, they will tell you how easy it is to start this kind of business. And there are two options, get a franchise or put up your own. Each choice has their own advantages and disadvantages, but none is necessarily better than the other.
First of all, you need to find a reliable supplier of water refilling machines. Make sure to get their price list so that you can compare them for the best option.
Also, you can ask for feasibility studies they’ve conducted to determine the total cost needed in putting up your own water refilling station. At present, water refilling station business franchise fees range between 80,000 to 350,000 pesos.
Negotiate with suppliers or franchisers. Have the courage to ask for special discounts and make sure to understand the after-sales agreements including warranty and maintenance.
However, do not compromise quality for cheaper equipment. Remember, it will cost you more when you need to replace a malfunctioning machine.
After getting your equipment, find a good location to put up your water refilling business. Usually, the required total area is 20 to 25 square meters.
Many water refilling stations are located in the owners’ house. So if you are in a subdivision, you can also use your house for more convenience.
For final negotiations, contact your equipment supplier to help you create a layout for your water station. But allow them to evaluate your location first so that they can provide you the appropriate layout.
Suppliers usually ask for down payment prior to delivering the machines. In two to three weeks, the assembly is completed. Don’t forget to ask your receipt when you pay your down payment.
Once you settle everything with your supplier, it’s time to construct your water refilling station. It will take more or less a month to finish as it will include digging the water source you will be using.
Let your supplier visit the construction site to guide your contractor as they build the refilling station. Check if the layout is being followed including the pipe lines, drainage, and washing area.
You can also prepare you business permit as you wait for the construction to finish.
Go to your local DTI branch to process your business permit application. Bring your barangay clearance, residence certificate, and other required documents.
Also, prepare 5 to 10 business names to ensure you’ll be processed in one day.
When you successfully processed your business registration, the next step is to visit the municipal office for your Mayor’s permit. Usually, this process will take two to three weeks.
Bring your physical, bacteriological, and chemical test as well as the electrical and building plan.
Now, you need to process another document at the Bureau of Internal Revenue. Fill up the Form 0506 that will be given to you and pay the amount asked. Keep printed receipts for future reference.
So you have settled your permits. Now you need to focus on your supplies such as sanitizer soap, heat gun, water containers, and other necessary items. It’s also important to secure your signage and stickers for your brand.
If your water refilling station is completely ready, you can contact your supplier to install the equipment. Installation can be done in one to two days.
Dry run your machines to ensure they are working properly before you finally open your water station. In addition, secure your water sample and let the local DOH staff to test your product prior to selling them.
Once you get good result for the water analysis, you are now an official water refill-er in your area. But in case you fail the test, let your supplier check the equipment again and identify the problem.
