“Mommy, can you buy me that dress?” a friend’s daughter said inside the mall.
“Not now, sweetie. We don’t have money right now to buy that dress,” my friend answered.
“But mommy, you have that plastic card in your wallet,” her 8-year old replied. “That’s what you always use to buy things.”
For a few seconds, my friend didn’t know how to answer her daughter.
She’s surprised that her child is aware of what credit cards are, and knows that it can be used to buy things. At the same time, that made her realize that it’s time to start teaching her kid about money.
When my friend told me this story, it got me inspired to organize a financial seminar for kids, and after a few weeks of planning, I’m now proud to announce…
The Money Smart Kids Workshop
