On Blogging, Breakfast Magazine and a Free Giveaway

Updated: June 26, 2012

Just in case you don’t know yet, I maintain another blog about “drinks” called The Thirsty Blogger.

It’s basically a beverage blog I started back in 2009.

I originally wanted a food blog, but I thought that would be expensive.

With a “drink blog” – I can go to a posh restaurant, order their signature iced tea (which is usually less than P150) – and I already have a piece to write about.

If I were to blog about their food, I’d be shelling out much more than that, right? πŸ˜›

Anyway, more than three years after it’s inception – The Thirsty Blogger has become more than just a beverage blog… but also a fun journal of my travels and (wide grin) my food adventures.

And early this year, because of it and much to my surprise – a local publishing company reached out and contacted me to ask if I’d like to be a contributing writer to Breakfast Magazine – to which I said YES!

Breakfast Magazine, I eventually learned, is the brainchild of four young and talented entrepreneurs (not to mention beautiful); who all decided to put up their own company called, AKME Publishing Group right after college.

After their very successful launch early this year, they’re now on their third issue, which currently features comedienne, Pokwang as cover.

The magazine comes out every two months and is available in all major newsstands and bookstores for only P120.

If you’re planning to buy one (and please buy one! ;-)) – then the best place to go to and grab a copy is in National Bookstore.

I am part of the Bloggers’ Section of the magazine.

Together with siblings, Kenneth and Mel of Certified Foodies and Jill of The Food Scout – we share in every issue, our food adventures in the city; or in my case, the “drinking sprees” I do around town, hehe. πŸ˜†

You should know that Breakfast Magazine is not your typical food magazine. What I really like about it is that it’s mostly page-after-page of healthy and easy-to-do recipes.

And they’re no ordinary recipes!

Because they all come from the best chefs in the country. That’s right, every issue features more than twenty recipes of well-renowned local chefs – so you can cook and eat their delicious gourmet dishes at home.

And amusingly, while I’m no chef, I also write a special section there where I share a few drink recipes!

That’s right… you may know me here as the “personal finance blogger” but in this magazine – I’m the resident “rookie bartender”. 😯

Anyway, one of the reasons why I’m writing about this today is because I’m giving everyone a chance to win a FREE copy of their latest issue.

Yup, two (2) lucky winners will be picked via electronic raffle and each will receive a copy of the June-July issue of Breakfast Magazine.

And all you have to do are:

  1. “Like” Breakfast Magazine on Facebook
  2. “Follow” @breakfastmag on Twitter
  3. And then, leave a comment below telling me: “What’s your favorite breakfast?”

Easy right? I know it is.

This raffle contest is open to everyone – but if you win, you have to provide a shipping address in the Philippines, okay?

I’ll be accepting entries only until 12 noon of Monday, June 25 (Manila time). Be sure to use a valid email address when leaving a comment so I can contact you if you win.

Again, here’s a brief description of what the magazine is all about:

Breakfast Magazine is your ultimate food and lifestyle magazine.

The first and only magazine that does not only celebrate food but more importantly provides a holistic experience for its readers by celebrating the people behind the continuously growing food industry.

Thus, Breakfast provides not only the easiest and most affordable recipes but also satisfies your mind with stories from inspiring personalities.

Moreover, every reader’s experience will be taken to a whole different level because Breakfast will not only serve you with appetizing treats and interesting articles but more importantly, it provides your every need because YOU are IMPORTANT.

Congratulations to Cecille and Rommel for winning the raffle. Kindly expect an email from me today. Thank you everyone for joining. I hope you spread the word about Breakfast Magazine.
