Paralyzed with Problems? Stuck in Life? Here are 10 Ways To Move Forward

Updated: April 6, 2023

Life can sometimes get us stuck in the middle of nowhere. You keep getting passed over on that promotion at work. You can’t seem to find new clients and projects. Your business has been stagnant for months.

When your life goes into paralysis and you feel you’re just going around in circles, then the change that you’re hoping for can only start within you. Here are 10 things you can do to help yourself move forward.

1. Do what you can do

It’s easy to blame others for your situation. But instead of focusing on what other people will or won’t do and waiting for things to happen under the right circumstance, just do what you can do. Sometimes, that’s all it takes to get everybody and everything else moving.

2. Imagine the best scenario

When planning for anything, it’s important to know and prepare for the worst case scenario. But also, it’s necessary to also visualize the best outcome and use that to motivate you into action. There’s no need to let fear hold you back.

3. Assess the situation with a friend

Ask a friend to give their thoughts about your problem. Sometimes, it’s really not as bad or as hard as you think. And more often than not, they’ll be able to give you a different perspective and new solutions that can help you move forward.

4. Learn to say “No”

Are you too busy doing things for others that you don’t have time for yourself anymore? Then learn to say “No” more often. Be honest and tell them that you’re feeling stuck, and need time to focus on your own life – that is to do the things you need to do, to get yourself out of your own rut.

5. Change your routine

Write down your daily, weekly, and monthly routine. Identify which activities are essential, and which ones you’re simply doing out of habit but not really helping you grow. Replace those with new and more productive activities and things will surely start to change.

6. Divide and conquer, with laser-point focus

Overwhelmed with too much work that you don’t know where to start? Pick one thing you need to do, break it down into smaller pieces, and concentrate on just doing those tasks, one at a time. You’ll be amazed at how much you can accomplish with this single-focus strategy.

7. Get to the root of the problem

Things used to run so smoothly, but things seem to be at a halt right now. Assess the situation and identify what changed, or what needs to change, so that you can continue moving forward. Find the root cause and solve the problem that’s stunting your growth.

8. Take a micro vacation

Have you been staring at that blank page for far too long? Is your creativity being elusive? Then take a break and go on a micro vacation – have coffee with a friend, try out and play a video game, exercise – clear your head by doing something fun or different, even for just a couple of hours.

9. Ask for help, delegate

Don’t be afraid to ask for help. There’s no need to be insecure or shy about it, and you’ll discover that there are people who are actually glad and willing to help you. Delegating some of your tasks will take away enough weight from your shoulders that can allow you to move forward.

10. Remind yourself of your dreams

When motivation is running low, and you’re at the brink of giving up – remind yourself of your dreams and visualize the future that you are working for. Look back and see how much you’ve accomplished, then let your goals inspire you again by remembering that feeling when you first started this journey.
