What you’ll hear in this episode:

Have you ever felt like your life is dictated by what others want or expect of you? That you can’t just pursue your passion without considering what others will say about it?

If so, you’re not alone. Many of us fall into the trap of following the expectations of others, without really questioning whether it’s what we truly want.

In this episode, I shared something I read recently online, which was inspired by a quote by an American engineer, physician, and former NASA astronaut, Mae C. Jemison:

Never be limited by other people’s limited imaginations. If you adopt their attitudes, then the possibility won’t exist because you’ll have already shut it out…You can hear other people’s wisdom, but you’ve got to re-evaluate the world for yourself.

Then I shared three stories that demonstrate these:

  • The first story is about the son of a friend and his choice to take an unpopular course in college.
  • The second story is about a friend who changed careers in his 30s.
  • And the third story is about a client who followed his heart when he retired.

Excerpts and Highlights:

If you never question things, your life ends up being limited by other people’s imaginations.

Take the time to think and dream, to question and reconsider. It is better to be limited by what you can dream for yourself than by where you fit in someone else’s dream.
