So, you’re just at home and a member of #TeamBahay. Now, below are five activities you might want to consider doing.
They’re all simple and easy, and won’t take up much of your time – leaving you with still enough hours to do other stuff, including some rest and relaxation.
And more importantly, these tasks will surely help you make good use of your time and be productive.
1. Do nothing for 10 minutes each day.
I know what you’re thinking… how can doing nothing be productive?
Well, this activity is more about the mind rather than the body. “Doing nothing” will refresh your mind and help you achieve a better, healthier perspective about life.
To better understand what I’m saying, here’s a video of mindfulness expert Andy Puddicombe, explaining what it means to do nothing.
2. Watch TED Talks.
Skip the DVD marathon and spend time doing what you just did above.
TED is a nonprofit organization best known for their slogan, “Ideas Worth Spreading”. They initially covered Technology, Entertainment and Design (thus the acronym), but the conference has long since expanded to many other topics.
You can visit the TED Youtube channel to get started, or just check out these previous blog posts, which all contain awesome, entertaining, interesting and informative videos from different TED conferences world wide.
3. Create a family bucket list.
We all have our own bucket lists – things which we want to do or accomplish before we “kick the bucket”. But have you considered creating a list of things that your whole family would want to do someday?
Staycations are often spent with family, which gives you a good opportunity to do this wonderful activity because everyone’s most probably at home too.
After writing down your family bucket list, be sure to post it somewhere in the house where everyone can often see it. This will surely inspire and motivate each one of you towards making everything on the list a reality.
4. Sign up and sell a service at 199Jobs.com
A lot of people make money selling stuff online – mobile phones, clothes, fashion accessories, cakes and pastries – you name it, and somebody’s probably selling it online.
For those who don’t really have any tangible product to sell, there’s 199Jobs.com – the Philippine marketplace where you can buy or sell simple services quickly, easily and affordably.
It’s a great place for people with special skills and talents who are looking for a way to earn some extra income on their spare time. Check it out and see if you can offer a service that other people would be willing to pay you for.
Disclosure: I am a co-founder of 199Jobs
5. Backup your computer files.
When was the last time you backed up your files? This is an important task that many of us fail to do simply because we’re too busy – well, this time you have no excuse.
You don’t have work and you don’t have any place you need to go – so dust off your back up disk and start creating copies of your important files. You’ll thank me someday when your computer suddenly breaks down.
And while you’re at it, back up your phone contacts as well. Most smartphones nowadays have built-in software or applications that can easily and automatically do this with just a few steps.
Apple iPhone users have iCloud for example; while Android OS users can back-up their contacts through their Google account. Windows phone users also have similar cloud storage solutions.
And that’s it! Five productive things you can do at home during when you’re #TeamBahay.
