Reader Mail #3: Real Estate, Online Stores, Blogging and eLoad Stations

Posted by Fitz Villafuerte under Reader Mail on December 23, 2008

Welcome to the third edition of Reader Mail. This is the category of my blog where I share my answers to some of the interesting questions I receive from my readers.

Today, I am featuring inquiries on selling real estate, putting up an online store, making money through blogging and how to start a cellphone loading station.

The answers I gave are based from personal experiences and from what I know about the topic. Any additional input from others are very much welcome. So if you have anything more to add, please share them below as a comment.

Let’s now read some of the emails I got from my inbox. The names of the senders have been excluded for privacy and my responses may have been edited from my original reply in the email for the purpose of brevity.

From Mr. R:

Good morning Fitz. Can you give me an advise regarding a lot I own. It’s hard to find a buyer. It is somewhere in our province and I’d like to sell it to have money to use to start a business.

Hi Richard, you can post your lot in online websites, advertise in local newspapers and magazines that have a real estate section like Buy and Sell or if you know a real estate agent, you can ask him to sell the lot for you in exchange of a commission. Do check out the websites I listed in this article about selling in online classified ads and auction sites.

You can basically do two things, enlist your property OR look at the services ads and find a real estate agent that can help you. Alternatively, you can go to google.com.ph and search: “sell real estate in the Philippines” and you’ll find more websites where you can list the property you’re selling.

From Ms. A:

Hello. I was inspired to pursue my long-time dream of having a geek wear business through your site and through reading the stories of other successful people as well. I have already started printing the shirts. My problem is, I don’t know where to find retailers/resellers. Do you happen to know how to find them? Do I have to go to individual stalls (inside malls for instance) and ask for the owners’ numbers so that I could pitch my product? Thank you very much in advance. More success to your future endeavors. 🙂

Yes, going to individual stalls and pitching your product is a great idea. Just be patient though. Anyway, why not consider selling them yourself first? Inquire on how much to put up your own store in the mall / commercial areas or test out your market by participating in trade shows, fairs and bazaars.

Moreover, it might also be wise to put up your own website so you can feature your products there. This way, you’ll have an online portfolio. Then you can generously distribute your business cards (with your website address of course) to friends, colleagues and network contacts to promote your business.

Currently, a lot of home based businesses in the Philippines are using Multiply as their “online store”. Here’s a sample called Versatrends. You can also use other free social networking sites and even free blogging services like Blogger. Here’s one that sells baked goodies.

Lastly, you can also offer your friends commission if they help sell your products. Good luck!

Hi. I’ve always heard that you can make money from blogging but I never really believed it until you talked about it in your site. Now, I’m planning to put up my own money making blog but I don’t really know where and how to start. Can you give some advise? Is there a book I can buy that will teach me everything on how to make money from blogging?

Hello. Indeed there is money in blogging and if you’re dedicated enough, you too can earn from it. My advise, start a blog in Blogger and get a feel of it. If you think you’re up for it, then buy a domain name and migrate your blog to a webhost so you’ll have more control over your blog.

This is actually how I started, my url used to be readytoberich.blogspot.com before it became fitzvillafuerte.com. Furthermore, I am now hosted at Liquid Web. Making money out of blogging takes patience and a lot of learning. You will need to spend at least an hour or two everyday for a few months before you can see significant earnings.

Moreover, if you have $23.50 to spare, you can choose to buy one of my affiliate products, the ProBlogger Starter Pack. The original price is $47 but you’ll get a 50% discount if you use the discount coupon: probloggerdiscount upon checking out. I’m sure this product can help you learn more about making money from blogging.

Lastly, as an additional income opportunity, you can also choose to sell this ProBlogger Starter Pack and become an affiliate yourself. You get 40% commission on whatever you sell from the store. All you have to do to become an affiliate is register on this page. Just email me if you have further questions regarding this. Thanks.

Hi Fitz. First of all, I would like to tell you that I love your site. Your tips are really practical and easy to follow. Plus, you’ve actually inspired me to think about starting my own business. Right now, I’m planning of putting up an cellphone eloading station. Can you help me on how I can start doing this? Thank you.

Hi. I’m glad you found my site informative and helpful. I hope you come back here often and tell your friends about it. Anyway, regarding the cellphone eloading station, I’ve actually written something about that already. Check out this article of mine on how to become an eload retailer. Good luck!
