Push Yourself

This article is posted under Inspirations and Motivations, Mindsetting, Productivity.

Today, I sat down in front of my laptop, hoping to write something about entrepreneurship which I could post here.

I went through my idea notebook and nothing appealed to me.

It’s not that there were no interesting topics, the truth is – I’m just feeling too lazy to write about any of them.

If you were in my shoes, what would you have done?

I know some of you would have chosen to do something else, and just decide to come back later – hoping to be more refreshed to think and inspired to write.

However, in my case today, I’ve decided to force push myself and finish the task.

I said to myself, “Just choose a random topic and write about it for 5 minutes. If you don’t like where it’s going, then stop and choose a new topic and give yourself another 5 minutes with that. Repeat until you’ve published something.”

After what seemed to be a dozen attempts, I’ve finally found a topic that has kept me interested for more than ten minutes.

What’s it about?

Well, you’re actually reading it – it’s about how sometimes, you really need to push yourself if you want something done.

You need to push through laziness.

You need to push through self-doubt.

You need to push through your limits.

For only when you push yourself can you discover how much more you can actually achieve.

Push. Focus. Push. Persist. Push.

Sometimes, it’s the only way to make your dreams come true.

    I agree Fitz! I have a lot of tendency to be lazy too. However, if I’m in the mood, sometimes I’m so industrious that I have the tendency to skip meals just to finish work.

    If I were you.. I will go to a park.. Take some picture and relax.. Sometimes we really push our self on doing something.. Just remember blogging could be fun if you still love what you are doing and not being obliged to do so.

    When I am feeling not writing at all.. I go and watch tv and play with kids..

    @Joel
    That’s true. Sometimes, the things we don’t feel like doing are the ones that actually does the most good for us.

    @Tyrone
    In my case, I always eat while working. :P

    @Ron
    Yes, by keeping your focus on the “prize”, you can become motivated to push.

    @Dexter
    I actually do that sometimes, rest and relax to clear my mind and wait to get inspired. But blogging aside, there are time when we do need to push ourselves to accomplish our goals.

    Thanks everyone for the comments. :D

    When we push ourselves, we sometimes discover that we still have untapped potential that we are unaware of. We realize that we can still stretch our capabilities far beyond our self expectations.
