My List of Things to Accomplish For 2012

Posted by Fitz Villafuerte under Business, Freelancing on January 18, 2012

“What’s your super wish for 2012?” asks a friend during one of our usual coffee hangouts.

“SUPERWISH?” I replied back.

“Yeah, the things you want to have or accomplish this year,” he clarified.

That conversation went on for almost an hour – first starting with his use of the term “super wish”, which I found amusing.

And ended with our sharing of various things we want to achieve this 2012.

Simply wishing for things will certainly not make it happen. There is always the need to create a plan on how to achieve your goals.

That’s why if you’ve noticed, a good number of recent posts here have been about goal setting. I’ve written tips on how you can get more things done this year, as well the proper way to set goals.

And now, I think it would only be fair to share with you today, some of the things I want to accomplish this year.

2012 goals My List of Things to Accomplish For 2012

On Business

Last year, I launched my very first online store, Blogger Shirts, which has been quite successful. Sales have been stable and I could not thank my blogger friends enough for the support they gave.

For 2012, I’d like to focus on reaching out to more bloggers, particularly those beyond my blogging circle. Specifically, the goal is to sell at least 500 shirts this year.

Moreover, I’m still itching on starting a mall-based business. This idea has been on my mind for around two years already but I never really took the time to work on it.

This year, I’m laying the foundation for this venture and commit myself into creating and finishing its business plan. Ultimately, the goal is to finally open the business by 2013.

On Blogging

I’ve been blogging for almost five years, and through those times, I’ve been able to meet a lot of people and expand my network. Because of blogging, I’ve had opportunities to travel around the country, meet influential people and of course, earn extra income.

For this year, I’d like to take this up a notch and reach out to other financial bloggers around the world. I can only imagine the immense learning and the various opportunities that could open up for me when I expand my network and forge partnerships with financial bloggers abroad.

Concretely, my goal is to be able to attend the Financial Blogger Conference 2012 slated on September in Denver, Colorado. I know this will be an expensive trip for me. My initial calculations show that it would cost me around USD 3,000 to make this happen. So I guess it’s time to create a saving plan (or look for a sponsor) as early as now. icon razz My List of Things to Accomplish For 2012

On Career

For the past years, I’ve been busy managing my businesses and blogging. I realize that there have been little effort on my part to pursue a personal career – something which I’d like to try this year.

Specifically, I’d like do more writing this 2012, and be able to publish a book before the year ends. I’ve actually started working on a personal finance book, to which I’ve committed myself to write one chapter every week.

Challenges aside, it will be finished by April and the next goal after that is to learn how to self-publish the book, just in case no international publisher wants it.

Yes, I’m really dreaming big on this one because I want the book to be sold worldwide – so you could say this last one’s my ultimate “SUPERWISH”.

How about you? What are your goals this 2012? I hope you can share them below. Who knows, maybe we could help each other achieve them. icon biggrin My List of Things to Accomplish For 2012

Ang superwish ko lng is makabayad ng utang sa lahat ng inutangan ko this 2012. hahahaa :D

  4. Have you checked out Ardy Roberto’s Project Author program? Or maybe check out Michael Hyatt’s blog, he’s the chairman of Thomas Nelson. He has a product on how to write a Winning Book Proposal. I haven’t seen it myself but these two options are what I know of and besides they’re from Book Publishers so I firmly believe they’ll help you a lot in your goal to publish a book.

I came to the conclusion that I am not going to regret anything I do this year. You will only have 2012 for one year….might as well make it awesome. I started making a list of things that I want to do, and I plan on accomplishing all of them.

  6. Thanks for info, ive been following your blogs since December last year. I learn many things. TY

I,ve been your secret blog follower and personally taking notes of applicable and doable stuff. All my short and long-term goals are in my office table’s drawer for my ready reference. I wish everyone the best for this year, and may we all have a 100% accomplishment of our goals. Good luck to your trip to Canada, where I used to be as a Seafarer.

  8. Hi fitz! Great goals :) I really hope that you can achieve them. You have been doing a lot of good things to help other people learn to manage their finances and you have also helped the blogging community a lot by being more ‘proud’ of their contribution to society :)

Let me know how I can help in any way :) I work in bank and I’m actually handling a project that you have been writing about.

    More power!
