Believe In Your Success

The holidays are over and it’s time to face the new year ahead.

Thinking back – if I would take just one lesson I learned last year to guide me this year, I’d choose the power of believing.

Believing that I can do whatever I put my mind into, that my dreams are always just within my reach – believing that success is inevitable.

For me, that’s the importance of having a strong internal faith.

Believing in yourself gives you focus, clarity and the confidence to act towards your goals.

But how do you build such self-confidence? How do you convince yourself that you can succeed in whatever you do? How do you start believing in your success?

Set small achievable goals.
Give yourself a task to accomplish each day. Make it simple and being able to do them would be a reward in itself for you.

Success in small quantities builds self-confidence that will inspire you to go for bigger goals.

What are examples of these small achievable goals? For this week, try being early for work, or avoid eating anything fried in cooking oil or maybe commit to spend at least 20 minutes for exercise.

Make your own decisions.
Every day in our life, we are faced with choices. When you can’t decide on something, do you instantly turn for advice? Or worse, just choose whatever is the most popular choice?

One should learn how to make decisions solely based on one’s knowledge and experience. Self-reliance really plays a big role in having self-confidence.

For example, a friend’s birthday is coming up and you can’t decide on what to give. Instead of immediately asking your other friends for good gift ideas, why not just decide whatever you believe your friend would like.

Accept that failure is part of success.
Nobody has ever achieved anything great without failing at least once in their life. We all make mistakes and when you do, it means you’ve just eliminated one obstacle that hinders you from your goal.

I’ve missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. Twenty-six times, I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed. – Michael Jordan

Never let critics discourage you.
Be wary of people who put you down. Never let them convince you that you are less than who you really are.

There will always be people who would discourage and won’t believe that you can achieve your goals. Listen to their reasons why they believe that way and use it to positively improve yourself.

Give yourself to others.
One of the best ways to feel good about yourself is to help others. Why?

Because when you give your time, energy, skills and talent to charity, you’ll realize that your value as a person is something that other people need and deeply appreciate.

Serving others will give you self-respect and a sense of purpose – fuel that will boost your confidence in yourself.

Remember that success starts in your mind and in your heart.

When you push away your doubts and your fears and believe that you will succeed, then it’s only a matter of time before the universe grants your wish.
