Back From My GenSan Vacation

This article is posted under Blog Announcements.

It’s been almost a week since my last post. I sincerely apologize for the lack of recent updates for I’ve been out of town for a vacation.

I went to General Santos City in South Cotabato, the Tuna Capital of the Philippines and of course, the hometown of Manny Pacquiao.

Initially, my plan was to attend the 2010 Tuna Festival celebrations but unfortunately, the highlights of the festival was moved to a later date.

Not wanting to waste the airline tickets I bought months before, I decided to just go ahead with the trip. And together with fellow Manila bloggers, decided to just tour SOCCSKSARGEN – South Cotabato, Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani and General Santos City.

It’s interesting to note that a few days before my trip, some friends showed understandable concern with regards to how safe it will be to tour the region. I couldn’t blame them – for most of the things they know about Mindanao comes from the news.

Personally, I was confident that it would be a fun and safe trip – an assurance that was mainly brought about by the numerous blogs of Mindanao-based bloggers who constantly rave about the beauty and progress of their region.

And so, after days of missing out on beef and pork and stuffing myself with tuna, crabs, prawns and other seafood in South Cotabato, I’m back and ready to blog once again.

But before anything else, I’d like to take this opportunity to make a shout out to Kuya Avel, Kuya Orman and the rest of the GenSan bloggers for taking care of us during our trip. It was truly an unforgettable SOCCSKSARGEN Experience.

Lastly, if ever you find yourself free in the coming weeks, then I highly recommend that you go and visit General Santos and catch the 2010 Tuna Festival.

A lot of activities are in store for everyone, and one of them – an eat-all-you-can tuna sashimi night on September 25!

  1. It’s great to know na nakakatulong talaga ang mga blogs to promote Mindanao. I’ve been blogging about other tourist spots too, especially Lake Sebu na hindi masyado nabibigyan ng pansin because a lot of people are still scared to go there. Kahit na sobrang PEACEFUL and lugar. Way to go at na-try niyo po ang zipline! I missed my chance, maybe pag-uwi ko uli sa province.

  2. We’re honored to have you here, Fitz!

Thank you for your kind words. There’s nothing like reading blog posts from recent visitors who enjoyed so much the SEX Tour (Soccsksargen EXperience) that we offered to them.

HOpe you could be back soon for the Tuna Festival Week on Sept 18-26, 2010!

    Ayo-ayo and Magandang GenSan!
